The <%=ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["SS"]%> First Annual XQuery Innovator Awards offers enterprise software developers, systems integrators, and IT consultants engaged in building cutting edge solutions based on new cutting-edge XQuery technologies the opportunity to have their work publicly showcased and gain valuable recognition as pioneers in the XQuery industry from the XML developer community.

XQuery Innovator Award winners will be announced in the Stylus Scoop, the industry-leading developer newsletter for XQuery and XML data integration issues - in a comprehensive special report on XQuery development which will also be published online at the <%=ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["SS"]%> website. A trophy (illustrated above), certificates and award logo (illustrated below) will be awarded to the winning teams.

To apply for an XQuery Innovator Award, simply answer the following 6 questions:

• What business problem does the XQuery application solve or propose to solve? (suggested 300 word limit)
• Describe a High level technical description of the application's architecture (suggested 500 word limit)
• What XML tools, servers, databases, languages and other application infrastructure used during the project? (suggested 500 word limit, include figures if necessary)
• What are the key benefits of the new solution in comparison to the system that it replaced, or other alternative solutions that were considered? (suggested 500 word limit)
• Who was involved with the project, and what were their roles? (Suggested 300 word limit)
• Please provide background information about your company and its services — include a technical and marketing contact information (Suggested 300 word limit)

When you are done, email your responses to the questions above. In addition, please provide the following contact information:

• Your name
• Your company name
• Your phone number

Entries will be judged by a panel of XQuery experts including <%=ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["SS"]%> product engineers and other industry XQuery experts. They will be judged based on a number of different criteria including (but not limited to):

• Technical vision and scope of the project
• Innovative use of XQuery and related technologies
• Overall business value to the customer

XQuery Innovator Awards will be given according to vertical industry, in the following categories: Academic, Financial Services, Government, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Publishing, Transportation, Retail, Telecommunications, Computers, Aerospace and Internet Services.

Vendors may enter any number of projects, either new projects or XQuery enabling of existing systems. Due to the early-adoption nature of XQuery technologies, projects that are currently in development but have a planned launch date sometime in 2005 will be considered.
